Security and Data Privacy

We take your privacy very seriously and provides a variety of security hardening features to secure your data. As Yeastar Workplace consists of four components, this topic describes how the security and data privacy is handled in each component.

  • Yeastar Workplace server (including web portal)
  • Room display
  • Smart sensors and LoRaWAN gateways
  • Booking systems

Yeastar Workplace server

The Yeastar Workplace server, which can be accessed by a web browser via https://workplace.yeastar.com is where all the data is stored. This is where a company administrator configures, maintains and analyzes workplace resources.

European users can access the Yeasatr Workplace server by a web browser via https://eu.workplace.yeastar.com/.

Cloud deployment

Yeastar Workplace server is deployed on Alibaba Cloud, all the data and computing are all stored and encrypted on Alibaba cloud.

After the cloud deployment, Yeastar and Alibaba Cloud perform their respective duties:

  • Server maintenance and security updates are managed by Alibaba Cloud
  • Server scalability and updates are managed by Yeastar
  • Device firmware updates are managed by Yeastar Workplace users

User data

The following user data is stored on the Yeastar Workplace server:

  • User information
    • first name
    • last name
    • email
    • login password (encrypted)
    • preferences
  • Company information
    • company name, logo, phone number (optional), address (optional)
    • name of meeting rooms
    • meeting room booking information
      • start time
      • end time
      • subject
      • organizer
      • participants
    • occupancy data or people counting data sent from smart sensors

Room display

The room displays are connected to Yeastar Workplace server via Wi-Fi network or wired network. The server sends notifications to room displays via MQTTS protocol, then the room displays execute actions using HTTPS (port 443). All the communications are encrypted using TLS 1.2.

User data

The room display owns the network configuration of a user, and get the following data to display on the screen:

  • company name, logo
  • meeting room booking information

    • start time
    • end time
    • subject
    • organizer
    • participants
    • occupancy data or people counting data sent from smart sensors

Smart sensors and LoRaWAN gateways

LoRaWAN gateway

A LoRaWAN gateway is a bridge that connects sensors to the internet. The sensors transmit data to gateway via LoRaWAN network, and the gateway redirects the data to Yeastar Workplace server via the internet.

People counting sensor

The people counting sensor VS121 is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The sensor detect human without facial recognition – no personal identifiable information is used, collected or uploaded.

Room comfort sensor

The room comfort sensor AM307 is a compact indoor environmental monitoring sensor for measurement of temperature, humidity, light, CO2 concentration, TVOC.
