Enforce Password Policy for Extensions

You can enforce password policies for extensions' registration password and user password, so as to further enhance extension account security.

Requirements and restrictions

Requirements
The firmware version of PBX server is 84.20.0.21 or later.
Restrictions
The feature is accessible only to the super administrator and the users who access the PBX via a passwordless PBX account.

Procedure

  1. Log in to PBX web portal, go to Security > Security Settings > Security Options.
  2. In the Extension Password Rules section, complete the following settings.

    Setting Description
    Minimum Character Length of User Password Specify the minimum character length for extension users' user password (i.e. the password used to log in to Linkus UC Clients).
    Note: The maximum character length is 63.
    Minimum Character Length of Registration Password Specify the minimum character length for extension users' registration password (i.e. the password used to register endpoints such as IP phones or softphones).
    Note: The maximum character length is 63.
    Extensions Are Not Allowed Reuse Any of Their Last {number} User Passwords If enabled, extension users cannot reuse any of their last {number} user passwords when changing their current password.

    You can specify a value between 1 and 20 to define how many previous passwords are disallowed.

  3. Click Save.

Result

The password policy is enforced when creating extensions or modifying extension passwords.
