SIP Trunk Overview

This topic provides an overview of SIP trunks managed in Yeastar Central Management, including usage limits, supported types, status monitoring, and creation methods.

Limitations

You can create up to 20 SIP trunks for sharing.
Note: The number of trunks created by your colleagues is also included.

Supported trunk types

Yeastar Central Management supports trunk sharing for the following types of SIP trunks:
Register trunk
Registration-based SIP trunk that uses username and password for registration with SIP providers.
Peer trunk
IP-based trunk that uses IP address and port of PBX for authentication.
  • Peer Trunk (DID Based): The ITSP routes calls based on DID number.
  • Peer Trunk (Port Based): The ITSP routes calls based on SIP registration port.

Trunk status

The trunk status indicates the current registration and connectivity state of a SIP trunk.

Status Description
Disabled. The trunk is currently disabled and cannot be used for calls.
Unreachable. The system can not reach the trunk due to network issue or peer-related problems.
Registration failed. The trunk registration attempt failed, possibly due to the following issues:
  • Authentication failed.
  • Transport type inconsistent.
  • Rejected.
Authentication failed. The system failed to authenticate with the trunk provider.
Note:
  • Double check your username and password.
  • This status is only for register trunk.
Registering or connecting. The system is currently attempting to register the trunk or establish a connection.
Registered or reachable. The trunk is successfully registered or connected, and is ready for use.
Unmonitored. The trunk is reachable but its status updates are not monitored, so the registration or connection status cannot be determined.
Busy. All available channels are currently in use; no new calls can be placed or received through this trunk.

Trunk creation methods

You can create a SIP trunk via either of the following methods:

Create a SIP trunk by a template
Yeastar supports leading ITSP across the globe, as listed in the ITSP partner page. If your ITSP is supported, you can use the pre-configured templates included in the system to set up a SIP trunk quickly and easily.
For more information, see Create a Trunk from a Template.
Create a general SIP trunk
If your ITSP has not undergone an interoperability test by Yeastar, you can set up a general SIP trunk.
