Forward Incoming Calls to Another Destination

Users can forward incoming calls to a designated destination using either a feature code or a BLF key on an IP phone.

Introduction

This topic describes how users can forward incoming calls in the following ways:
  • Feature code: Users can change the call forwarding status and destination for the current presence status.
  • BLF key: Users can forward all incoming calls to the designated destination, overriding the call forwarding settings configured for different presence statuses.

To implement automatic call forwarding based on presence status, see Configure Call Forwarding Based on Presence Status.

Forward incoming calls using feature code

With call forwarding feature code configured, users can change call forwarding settings (including enablement status and forwarding destination) for the current presence status.

Prerequisites
You have enabled and configured the call forwarding feature code.
Procedure
Users can forward incoming calls to a target number by dialing {call_forwarding_feature_code} + {target_number}.
Result
The call forwarding setting for the current presence status is updated and synchronized across NovoOne clients. Incoming calls are forwarded according to the updated setting when the forwarding condition is met.

Forward incoming calls using BLF key

You can provision a BLF key on an IP phone, allowing users to forward all incoming calls to a designated destination, overriding the call forwarding settings configured for different presence statuses. This can be implemented in either of the following ways:

  • Configure BLF keys individually on IP phone's web interface.

For more information, contact the phone manufacturer.

  • Provision BLF keys in bulk.

For more information, see the following instructions.

Prerequisites

You have provisioned a user's extension on an IP phone. For more information, see Auto Provision an IP Phone.

Procedure
  1. Assign a BLF key for a user.
    1. Log in to NovoOne Tenant portal, go to Users > Users.
    2. Click beside the desired user.
    3. In the Function Keys tab, add and configure a function key.

      Setting Description
      Type Select Call Forward.
Value Enter the target phone number.
Label Optional. Enter a label, which will be displayed on the phone screen.
    4. Click Save.
The BLF key is provisioned to the IP phone. The user can identify the call forwarding status from the LED indicator.
      • Green LED: Call forwarding is enabled, and all incoming calls are routed to the destination number.
      • LED Off: Call forwarding to the configured destination is disabled.
  2. Re-provision IP phone.
    1. Go to Inventory > IP Phones.
    2. Click beside the IP phone, then select Reboot and confirm the operation.

The BLF key is assigned to the IP phone. When the monitored user extension receives an incoming call, the BLF key flashes red.

  3. Press the BLF key to enable call forwarding to the configured destination.
Result
The call forwarding setting for the current presence status is updated and synchronized across NovoOne clients. Incoming calls are forwarded according to the updated setting when the forwarding condition is met.
