Create a Register Trunk

This topic gives a configuration example to describe how to create a general SIP Register Trunk, which can be used with various SIP trunk providers that require registration.

Prerequisites

You have purchase a SIP account and obtain the relevant credentials from your Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP).

The following is example information typically provided by an ITSP:

  • Provider domain: sip.voipglobal.net
  • Registration port: 5060
  • Transport protocol: UDP
  • SIP Username: vguser789
  • Authentication name: vguser789
  • Password: 05JsOmsIS54SYh

Procedure

  1. Log in to Yeastar Central Management, go to Cloud PBX > Trunk Sharing > Shared Trunks.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Basic section, enter the general information of the trunk.
    Setting Description
Name Enter a name to help you identify the trunk. The system will automatically append a 6-character random suffix (e.g. _M8D90A) to ensure the name uniqueness.
Note: The name you enter can not exceed 56 characters.
Trunk Status Select Enabled to activate the trunk.
Region Select the region where the P-Series Cloud PBXs that will use this trunk are deployed.
    Note:
    • The shared trunk MUST be in the same region as the desired Cloud PBXs to ensure connectivity.
    • The region cannot be changed after the trunk is created.
    Select ITSP Template Select General.
Remark Optional. Add a remark for the trunk.
  4. In the Detailed Configuration section, enter the SIP information provided by the ITSP.
    Setting Description
    Trunk Type Select Register Trunk.
Transport Select the transport provided by your ITSP. In this example, select UDP.
Hostname/IP Enter the domain name or IP address of the ITSP. In this example, enter sip.voipglobal.net.
Port Enter the provided registration port. In this example, enter 5060.
Domain Specify the domain for the SIP URI (e.g., in the From or To header).
Note: If the ITSP does not provide a domain, enter the same value as Hostname/IP.
Username Enter the provided user name. In this example, enter vguser789.
Password Enter the provided password. In this example, enter 05JsOmsIS54SYh.
Authentication Name Enter the provided authentication name. In this example, enter vguser789.
Note: The SIP username and authentication name are often the same, but some providers may use different values. Refer to the credentials provided by your ITSP.
Enable Outbound Proxy Optional. If the trunk requires an outbound proxy server, enable this option. When outbound calls are made through this trunk, all the SIP packets will be sent to the outbound proxy server.
Note: Contact your ITSP to check if outbound proxy is supported and configure the outbound proxy settings according to their guidance.
  5. Optional: Go to the Advanced and SIP Headers tabs to configure advanced trunk settings according to your needs.
  6. Click Save.

Result

The trunk is displayed in the trunk list. If the status shows , it indicates that the trunk has been successfully registered and is ready for use.

What to do next

Add DID numbers to the trunk and assign the DID numbers to PBX instances for trunk sharing.
