Call Forwarding Overview
Call Forwarding enables users to forward incoming calls to different destinations based on preset conditions, helping businesses stay connected and avoid missed calls.
What is call forwarding?
Call Forwarding allows users to route incoming calls to another destination when they are unavailable to answer calls. For example, when a customer calls a user's business number outside business hours, the call can be forwarded to a personal phone number, so callers can still reach the user.
How to set up call forwarding?
By default, incoming calls to users' extensions are routed to their voicemail box if the users do not answer the calls or are busy, regardless of their presence status. You can configure call forwarding rules for different presence statuses, allowing calls to be forwarded automatically according to the user's current presence status.
In addition, NovoOne supports overriding presence-based call forwarding using either a feature code or a BLF key.
The following table describes the applicable scenario for each method and provide links to the corresponding configuration instructions.
| Method | Applicable Scenario | Instruction |
|---|---|---|
| Feature Code |
User's extension is registered on any endpoint. |
Configure Call Forwarding feature code. |
| BLF Key |
User's extension is assigned a Call Forward function key, and registered on an IP phone via provisioning. |
Provision a BLF key on an IP phone. |
How to use call forwarding?
By default, incoming calls to user extension are forwarded to the configured destination based on the user's current presence status. Users can override the presence-based call forwarding settings by dialing a feature code or pressing a BLF key on an IP phone.
